Robert Roy
“My appreciation for life is felt in all my work because I like to paint as I like to live, that is with great pleasure and joie de vivre.”
- Robert Roy
Meet Robert Roy, born in 1957 in Ste-Perpétue, Québec, where he first worked in the family’s general store.
However, it was his father’s newfound love for painting upon retirement that sparked Robert’s own passion for colour at the tender age of 19. Spending every spare moment honing his craft, he poured his heart onto canvas, capturing the essence of his surroundings.
Eager to explore beyond Ste-Perpétue, Robert set out on a journey across the globe, from the Americas to Europe, Australia, and even the exotic Fiji Islands. His travels, which included stops in bustling metropolises like Vancouver, Paris, New York, Malaga, Brussels, Sydney, and Honolulu, became a wellspring of inspiration for his art, revealing the vibrant tapestry of life.
Upon his return to Québec, Robert pursued formal art studies at the University of Québec in Trois-Rivières, further refining his technique and showcasing his work in numerous exhibitions. Drawn to the energy of people in motion and bustling street scenes, Robert’s paintings exude a sense of freedom and lively expressionism, where colour and emotion intertwine to capture the essence of the moment.
