Mélanie Giguère
“My art embodies passion, emotion, and movement. By blending design elements with communication, I strive to convey a cohesive and inseparable array of feelings that resonate with the observer.”
- Mélanie Giguère
Meet Mélanie Giguère, whose paintings strive to capture the indefinable and share it with her audience. Inspired by street art, paper art, fashion, photography, and gestural painting, her works are indirectly part of the Graffiti 2.0 wave of contemporary urban art, despite being produced in a studio. Her ongoing exploration of volume and her innate desire to manipulate raw materials have led to the development of a unique technique – during the creation process, she creases and folds the canvas, adding a 3D sculptural element to what is essentially a 2D medium.
Her pieces radiate a dynamic element that strongly suggests they are striving to break free from the confines of their habitual frame. Audacious, avant-garde, lively, and progressive, she invites the viewer to follow the movement of her pieces while appreciating their depth from different perspectives.
Originally from Quebec, Mélanie’s creativity was evident as early as age 10 when she enrolled in her first oil painting class. This passion blossomed into a Fine Art degree specializing in fashion design, eventually leading her to work exclusively for the renowned fashion house Maison Simon.
