Eleanor Lowden began her career more than 30 years ago in Toronto. She studied fine arts at the University of Western Ontario, and continued her studies at the Ontario College of Art and then at the Alberta College of Art. Throughout her career she has participated in various workshops and artist retreats to further her learning.
Lowden finds inspiration in patterns; umbrellas, flowers, candy, as well as the roads and places she travels. Lately her travels have been close to home; her ravine walks with her dog, and in cottage country. Her work is both illustrative and impressionistic. “I paint with many layers of acrylic glazes, layering my colors so that they glow. I want the viewer to spend time contemplating both the painting process and the story that I am telling”
You can find her paintings in private and corporate collections across Canada.
She welcomes you to follow her on Twitter and Instagram @eleanorlowden, and you can also find her on Facebook.
Lowden is a member of the Ontario Society of Artists, she lives and works in her home in midtown Toronto with her dog, Rigby.
