Meet Connie Geerts, who embarked on her professional art career when she moved to the West Coast in 1987. After experimenting with various materials, she fell in love with acrylic painting and has been working in this medium ever since. Concurrently, she also worked as a video editor and dabbled in sculpture, becoming a member of the Vancouver Island Sculptors Guild.
In 2000, Connie moved to Calgary, Alberta, to devote more time to her art. While continuing to paint, she studied bronze casting in Mexico and discovered another art form that captured her heart: kiln glass casting, in 2005. She found that the same fluid translucency of color that she enjoyed with acrylic paint was also possible in a three-dimensional medium.
Working out of her home studio, Connie continues to pursue her first passion but now devotes equal time to exploring the possibilities that glass offers.
