Shannon Craig

Shannon Craig was born and raised in St. Johns, Newfoundland where she grew up in awe of the powerful, raw beauty of the scenery that surrounded her. As part of a highly creative family Shannon's own aspirations were continually fostered and encouraged.

After moving with her family to Ottawa, she began her art education at the Canterbury High School where she completed the Triple Credit Arts Program. Upon graduation, she continued her artistic training at both Sheridan College and the Ontario College of Art and Design where she pursued the painting and sculpture programs, as well as pottery and furniture design.

Shannon continues to travel extensively and gets much of her inspiration from the powerful beauty and visual structure of the Canadian landscape. Through her use of traditional oils and acrylic paints, as well as inks, washes and thick, colourful strokes, she captures the visceral and emotional intensity of the landscapes she paints, interpreting them in a highly energetic and linear style for which she has become well known.
